Thank you for the very active participation in this year's TOTA!
Logging has been disabled. The server will be shut down in early January 2025. Please download your QSO data as ADIF files and your awards from your profile page.
Rules
Toilets on the Air (TOTA) is intended as an amateur radio activity during 38C3.
Use amateur radio to activate "references" just like you would for other xOTA programs like Parks on the Air (POTA), Summits on the Air (SOTA), Island on the Air (IOTA), …
In this case, the references are just toilets.
- FM: 430.200MHz
- DMR: Brandmeister TG26223
- Only operate on frequencies you are licensed to operate on. With a radio licensed for the use on the given frequency.
- Always respect the band plans.
- Within those rules, all bands and modes are acceptable.
- Don't be rude, don't unncessarily block restrooms when others need to use them and always respect the privacy of other restroom users.
- It's not required to activate from within a restroom. A radius of a few meters from the doors (in either direction) is fine.
- Activator
- Person who activates a reference (in this case toilet). Only the activator needs to log QSOs in this system.
- Contacted Operator
- When somebody uses a training callsign you should log both the training callsign as 'callsign' and their 'unlicensed call' as 'operator callsign' to give them hunter and T2T credits.
- Chaser
- See hunter.
- Hunter
- QSO partner of the activator. A hunter is not required to be at a reference. Hunters don't need to log hunter QSOs unless they are also an activator (see T2T). They receive hunter credit automatically, if they have an account and the activator logs their QSO.
- RST
- System used by amateur radio operators to exchange information about the quality of their signal. See Wikipedia R-S-T System.
- Toilet to Toilet (T2T)
- When two activators have a QSOs from reference locations, both are activators and hunters at the same time. They receive both activator and hunter credit and they can log the hunted reference.
- Licensed operators with class E or A are permitted to train future amateur radio operators. Please adhere to the official legal rules.
- Operators who whish to train can to add their training call (separate DN callsign or personal callsign with /T suffix which is spoken as /Trainee in voice modes) to their profile.
- This system supports the training future amateur radio operator with training callsigns. The QSOs can be logged by trainees in a special training mode using a training callsign and their 'unlicensed callsign' as 'operator callsign' to associate hunter QSOs with your account.
- Unlicensed operators can change the logging mode and enter a training callsign on the logging page.
- Reminder: It's illegal to use callsigns without permission. Please stay with your trainer.
Thanks to CEPT Recommendation T/R 61-01 and ECC Recommendation ECC/REC/(05)06, radio amateurs from many countries around the world can operate in Germany.
If you own a CEPT license, you can use the prefix “DL/” in front of your home callsign, if you own a CEPT Novice license, you can use the prefix “DO/”. If you want to know exactly on which band you are allowed to operate with which power, you can look it up here.
Please be aware that we are in IARU region 1. Especailly the VHF and UHF band plans may be different than in your home country.
In addition to the CEPT countries, non-CEPT countries can also participate in the reciprocal license agreement: 4X 🇮🇱, K 🇺🇸, OA 🇵🇪, PJ2 🇨🇼, PJ4-PJ6 🇧🇶, PJ7 🇸🇽, VE 🇨🇦, VK 🇦🇺, ZL 🇳🇿, ZS 🇿🇦.
- This year, the system also supports accounts for unlicensed operators.
- Please only use radios and frequencies that are allowed to be used without an individual licenses, like PMR, Freenet or CB radios.
- If you are interested in pursuing an amateur radio license, find a friendly amateur radio operator who can give you practical a on-air training opportunity.
Most likely there will always be licensed amateur radio operators at the Assembly Chaoswelle near stage YELL for questions/etc. about amateur radio.
- Always be excellent to each other.
- Please don't spam the system, it was thrown together in a very short time.
- If there are any problems, please contact me.
